As part of reforms introduced in April 2013 to control the ever rising costs of insurance, an out of court claims portal has been set up to process employee injury at work uncontested compensation claims up to the value of £25,000. This results in a faster and cheaper process.
Measures are also in place to prevent lawyers from doubling their fees when winning ‘no win no fee’ cases, and banning referral fees paid between lawyers and insurance firms, and preventing offers of cash of gifts in return for claims or recommendations.
