The Department for Business has published a draft of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations Legislation. Proposed changes include a 90 day right to cancel if misled or bullied into a contract, and the right to recover payment that consumers do not owe but have been bullied or misled into making. Also the cooling off period for ordering goods online or over the phone will be increased from 7 days to 14 days after the goods have been received. Pre-ticked boxes for extra goods will be banned to avoid unexpected payments. Also necessary information such as that regarding any hidden or additional costs and cancellation rights will be set out clearly.
