New rules to be introduced in late 2013 may mean that drivers taking HGV vehicles over short distances of no more than 50 kilometres for specific purposes such as to deliver or repair them may not need to hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), if no passengers or goods are being carried, and HGV driving is not the driver’s main job.
