The Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016.
The Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016 are being implemented to ensure that the UK meets the EU regulations requirements. They are designed to implement directive 2014/32/EU, to create a uniform approach to the regulations on bringing Measuring Instruments to market by the EU Member States.
The directive outlines the technical specifications and Conformity Assessment Procedure obligations that manufacturers, importers and distributors must adhere to. It also repeals certain regulations relating to the use for trade, but re-introduces them in the new directive.
Through this introduction the UK meets its legal obligations to implement the 2014 Directive, which is designed to provide greater clarity of the obligations of all economic operators within the supply chain of Measuring Instruments and to provide a “more structured market surveillance regime”.
